Data this solution uses
THE PROBLEM
Why this is hard today.
Sales tax software is only as accurate as the transactions it sees. Merchants sell through several channels and invoice through a ledger, and every source formats taxes, refunds and addresses its own way.
Sales are spread across channels
Nexus thresholds count sales from storefronts, marketplaces and invoices together. Missing one channel understates exposure.
Refunds and credits get lost
Returns, refunds and credit notes change taxable amounts, but they live in different objects on every platform.
Marketplace rules differ
Marketplace facilitators collect tax on some sales but not others. Filing needs to know which is which, per order.

Frequently asked questions
Does Unify Int calculate or file sales tax?
No. Unify Int supplies normalized transactions with tax lines and addresses. Calculation, nexus decisions and filing stay with your product or tax engine.
Do you keep tax by jurisdiction?
Yes. Tax lines keep their jurisdiction and rate where the source provides them, on every order line and invoice line.
Can we tell marketplace-collected tax apart?
Where the marketplace reports it, orders indicate whether tax was collected by the marketplace facilitator, so you can exclude it from what the seller remits.
How are refunds handled?
Refunds, returns and credit notes are separate objects linked to the original order or invoice, so taxable amounts can be adjusted in the right period.
