How it works
An agent receives a goal, such as restocking a SKU, finding a supplier or reconciling a payout, and uses tools to act: searching catalogs, placing orders, creating bills, recording payments. Because the actions touch money and inventory, agentic commerce depends on guardrails: scoped permissions, spending limits, human approval for sensitive steps and a full record of what the agent did.
Example
A procurement agent sees stock fall below the reorder point, drafts a purchase order with the usual supplier, and routes it to a buyer for approval because it exceeds a $5,000 limit.
In integrations
The agentic commerce solution on Unify Int is designed around Unify Agents (MCP): integrations exposed as MCP tools with scoped permissions, spending limits, approval steps and an audit trail of every call. The goal is to give agents tools, not raw credentials. The risk is not that agents act, it is that they act without limits or records. Businesses will allow agents to spend and post only when they can see and control what happened.
